According to sources, Hasb-e-haal, which recently has changed the format of the show where Najia was asked to sit along the new team, upon which she refused and decided to part her ways.

Hasb-e-Haal is a political comedy show that airs on Dunya TV at 11:05 pm from Thursday to Sunday. It stars Sohail Ahmed (Azizi), Junaid Saleem and Najia Baig.

Hasb-e-Haal is a political and social satire. Sohail Ahmed appears on the show as Azizi, while Junaid Saleem and Najia play themselves. It is an effort to raise the voice of sanity over the apparent apathy in the society. He mocks the flagrant disregard for law, lack of policy architecture by the government and equally blatant lack of incentive from the civil society to change the existing flawed system. The popularity of the show is understandable in a society which has lost its relevance and looks at reality through half open means of expression.

Fiona Campbell appointed as head of current affairs in BBC News

BBC3 documentary boss Fiona Campbell has been made the BBC’s new head of current affairs, overseeing Panorama and Newsnight, in a shake-up of BBC News director James Harding’s senior executive team.

Campbell, currently acting head of documentaries and features for BBC3, will also oversee This World and HardTalk and radio shows File on 4 and Assignment.

It is one of four new appointments, including BBC news editor Gavin Allen, who becomes controller of daily news programmes, running the teams behind all of the corporation’s flagship news programmes on TV and radio.

The BBC’s head of newsroom, Mary Hockaday, takes on the new role of controller, World Service English, while Jon Zilkha becomes controller of 24/7 and digital news, overseeing the BBC News channel and BBC World News.

The changes follow Harding’s announcement in July of a restructure of BBC news and current affairs which is undergoing wide-ranging job cuts likely to affect more than 400 posts.

Strike action in protest at the prospect of compulsory redundancies as a result of the changes was averted earlier this month after the BBC agreed to union demands for a suspension of compulsory redundancies and external hiring.

PanoramaCampbell began her career as a researcher and producer in the current affairs department and has been a commissioning editor and executive producer for the BBC and Channel 4.

Her BBC3 credits include Tulisa: The Price of Fame and Oscar Pistorius: The Truth.

The BBC said its newsgathering department under Jonathan Munro was unaffected by the changes.

DoorDarshan News Anchor Pronounced wrong name of Chinese President, Lost her Job

A Doordarshan anchor has reportedly lost her job after she read the name of Chinese president Xi Jinping as “Eleven” Jinping in a late-night bulletin on national television.

The casual newsreader mistook ‘Xi’ in the Chinese president’s name to be the Roman letter for 11, forcing her to make the embarassing faux pas.

“It’s true, we have sacked the concerned newsreader. We are putting systems in place to make sure such things don’t happen in future,” Prasar Bharti chief Jawahar Sircar has said.

DD-NEWS

Late night bulletins at the state-run Doordarshan are usually read by casual news readers who work on contract and are not on the broadcaster’s payroll.

Jinping on Friday will conclude his three-day visit to India, marked by an unusual bonhomie and a series of agreements signed between the two nations.

While anchoring the late night bulletin on DD News, a ‘casual’ anchor, pronounced Chinese President Xi Jinping’s name as ‘Eleven’ Jinping, obviously confusing Xi with the Roman numerical for eleven.

According to this report in The Indian Express, the inexperienced news anchor, who has since been removed, was put on the show as the main anchors choose not to present the late night broadcasts.

President Xi Jinping, who is on a three-day visit bi-lateral visit to India, has signed 12 key bilateral documents promising India investments worth $30 billion.

This, however, is not the first time that news anchors have got his name wrong.

This compilation of French news presenters will show you how many ways Xi can be pronounced.

The blunder occurred late Thursday night in a report by India’s public broadcaster Doordarshan on President Xi Jinping’s high-profile first state visit to India.

After hours of unconfirmed reports, Doordarshan announced Friday afternoon on its official Twitter handle that the anchor in question had been sacked but declined to name them.

“Please Take Note: DD (Doordarshan) News Anchor who mispronounced Chinese President’s name has been disengaged,”

The blunder is an embarrassment for the government of India’s new Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who rolled out the red carpet for Xi, spending his 64th birthday hosting a dinner for the Chinese president in a luxury riverside tent in his home city Ahmedabad.

The official said a shortage of news readers had forced the channel to run some news bulletins with casuals.

BOL TV’s Financial Feasibility Report LEAKED

  • BOL’s Financial Feasibility Report LEAKED – In the report Media group valued at Rs. 100 billion with 20 Crore per month of profits.

  • Azhar Abbas, Kamran Khan and TWO MORE MEDIA PERSONNEL become billionaires (names given below in the article)

BOL Network entered the Pakistani Media Industry with an announcement that created a ripple effect among all the employees associated with the industry. With lavish salary packages unprecedented in the history of our media industry, everyone in the media industry you met is telling that he or she has applied for a job. Despite many naysayers doubting that a channel would ever go for offering such bountiful remuneration package, many known media personnel including famous anchorpersons and producers also expressed the desire for the media network – and apparently, they haven’t put their faith in wrong place!

BOL TV Financial Feasibility Report

With recently leaked BOL’s Financial Feasibility Report, the BOL’s “baray bol” do not seem farfetched! In fact, the report reveals the entire profit model on which BOL is planning to enter the market with all the buzz about them being the paymasters in the industry. The report shows BOL’s projected monthly expenses and earnings. Based on the profit earned on the projections, the report goes on to discuss the entire financial plan for BOL based on the competitor and market analysis.

The revenue projections are based on the latest claimed revenue figures of the current market leader with revenue in the range of Rs 35-40 crore per month (GEO news in good old days before April 2004). It was assumed that BOL will become a market leader and is expected to earn revenue around 50-55 Crore per month. This NO.1 slot is something which now looks like pretty certain for BOL with the Kind of bang with which it is entering the market.

This revenue and summary of some broad expenses as shown in the feasibility are simplified below:

Total Earnings per month = 55 Crore Considering the 17 top names joining BOL earn upto an average figure of Rs 7,500,000/month, the expenses on their salary = 13 Crore (Approx. rounded figure)Salary of Other Employees= 10 croreOther operating expenses = 12 CroreProfit Expected per month = 550,000,000 – (130,000,000 +100,000,000 + 120,000,000) =

MONTHLY PROFIT OF RS 200,000,000 (200 million per month)

Another important factor in this report is the valuation of the company and how the equity is transferred to the employees. The company valuation of Rs. 100 billion might look like an underestimation. With a 5 billion paid up capital and 200 million per month of profits this valuation should be much higher than this when you compare it to HUM TV’’s (HUMNL) current Market Cap o Rs.12 Billion (the only publicly listed media company).

With 4 names mentioned in the report as ALREADY been awarded the ownership in the group through distribution of share certificates, namely: Azhar Abbas, Kamran Khan, Amir Liaquat and Jerjees Seja, BOL TV is surely turning them overnight into billionaires! The concept of such wealth distribution along with ownership is alien to Pakistani market but it is not a concept unheard of internationally; with top companies like Facebook etc making many top level officials overnight billionaires through distribution of Stock options.

This distribution of wealth among the employees without hoarding the entire profits only for the Seth, is surely a welcome change in Pakistani Media Industry. The Profit earned that has been used to build personal empires abroad with millions of dollar spent by the Seths of the media industry on lavish houses and Rolls Royces will now be distributed among the employees who actually work for the organization. With competition rising through BOL’s entrance and taking the first step in this direction, this is hoped to evolve in to a practice among all media houses to value their most important resource – Human Resource by giving them competitive benefits as well as stake in the media empires to empower them.
